3 Ways Face Oils Help Oily Skin

It’s actually a misconception that oily skin clogs pores and causes breakouts. Whilst cheap petroleum based oil products can exacerbate an oily or acne prone skin issue, a quality botanical oil blend like our Kiri Aroha Facial Serum can actually balance, calm and restore. Traditional approaches to skincare have us fighting against acne or oily skin by trying to rid the skin of the oil it naturally produces. Read on to find out why we believe in doing things differently.

Fighting against oily skin by stripping it of it’s natural oil actually causes the skin to produce more oil in response, effectively exacerbating the problem you are trying to correct. By introducing a blended natural face oil, carefully selected for their balancing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties it is possible to provide the skin with the balanced environment it needs to then allow it to heal and repair.

Balancing the Skin’s PH A face oil designed to address oily skin, like our Kiri Aroha Facial Serum helps to balance the skin’s natural PH. This acid mantle is comprised of sebum, the skin’s naturally occurring oil mixed with sweat. Our natural face oil is packed full of hydrating, natural plant based oils, which are very similar in their composition to your skin’s natural sebum. By supporting the skin’s natural barrier function we’re sealing the skin, to manage the environment and give skin the opportunity to heal.

Calming and Controlling Existing Inflammation Our Kiri Aroha Facial Serum contains Teatree Essential Oil, which is packed with anti fungal, anti microbial, anti bacterial and anti inflammatory ingredients which address and help repair existing acne and breakouts.

What causes acne? Acne occurs when the pores of your skin become blocked with oil, dead skin, or bacteria. It can occur when:

  • dead skin cells accumulate in your pores
  • bacteria build up in your pores
These problems contribute to the development of pimples. A pimple appears when bacteria grows in a clogged pore and the oil is unable to escape. Tea tree oil can work its way into skin pores, helping to disinfect the infected pores. This essential oil can help unblock the sebaceous glands by penetrating deep into the skin and unclogging the pores. Tea Tree Oil also helps inhibit the growth of the harmful, acne-causing bacteria known to hinder our skin’s ability to heal.

Preventing Future Acne In addition to helping treat acne, our Kiri Aroha Facial Serum also prevents future acne outbreaks. The anti microbial and anti bacterial benefits of tea tree and sweet orange essential oils combined inhibit and halt the development of the bacteria that causes acne from forming in the base of pores. Once all these acne promoting factors are brought under control skin can then return to it’s natural state of balanced, radiant health. When skin is well nourished and balanced it glows.
