Not all oils clog pores.
It seems that many people have the mistaken belief that oils will clog your pores and make acne and blackhead worse. Whilst it's true that some oils are comedogenic, not all oils are, and there's a difference between occlusive and comedogenic. Comedogenic means paw clogging, whereas occlusive means the ability to form a barrier, and just because a barrier is formed doesn't necessarily mean that you will have.
Thought, and therefore, just because a product is occlusive doesn't necessarily mean it's comedogenic. Unfortunately, this misunderstanding means that people whose skin would benefit from using face oils tend to stay away from them because they're scared that the use of oils will make their black heads or their acne work.
In actual fact face oils have a superior ability to support the skin's natural barrier to repair and heal with a healthy barrier. Most skin conditions will improve and in most cases cease altogether. Aside from supporting the skin barrier to heal, natural face oils are also chock full of all the things that your skin needs to perform all of its natural functions efficiently, including essential fatty acids, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.
So if you've previously stayed away from face oils because you thought that they would clog your pores and make your black heads worse, think again. They may just be the simple addition to your skincare routine that you need to return your skin to health.
